Facilitating an interoperable ecosystem for trade digitalization is a long-standing goal of APEC, as highlighted by the Aotearoa Plan of Action, the APEC Internet and Digital Economy Roadmap and the Enhanced APEC Agenda for Structural Reform. APEC leaders and the APEC Business Advisory Council have encouraged alignment of domestic regulatory regimes with international instruments. Hong Kong, China, jointly with the UNCITRAL Secretariat, proposes to hold a one-day workshop within SOM3 2025 to promote capacity-building on legal infrastructure enabling end-to-end digitalization of trade across the region. Primary resource persons will be experts from the UNCITRAL Secretariat, officers from APEC economies and representatives from international organizations who have experience with these international instruments. Outcomes will be compiled into a report, allowing key lessons learnt to be broadly shared among APEC economies and the international community.
